--- There is freedom in blacking boots for the right man. ---
Jake. Kings of Hell MC Prospect. Obedient. Desperate for approval.
Vars. Dominant. Stern. Undead.
Jake is itching to become a patched member of the Kings of Hell MC.
For two years he's toiled as the only prospect. So when a new guy swans in and thinks he'll get a patch in no time just because he's got friends in high places, Jake is there to stand in his way.
Only that the guy is older, more experienced, drives a Harley, and has the kind of boots Jake craves to lick.
But he won't.
Because he only fucks patches.
Vars is ready to find a new home in the Kings of Hell MC after a messy relationship led him straight to hell. In comparison, the pretty, blue-eyed prospect could be just the pleasant rebound he needs.
The boy is a brat, but that could be amended with a firm hand and a gag.
If only Jake was ready to admit to his submissive needs, Vars would gladly take him under his wing.
That is, until he finds out something inhuman resides inside of Jake.
Vars didn’t cheat death only to call out to it again.
But stuck together in one room, keeping each other’s secrets, they might just have to become allies, no matter how unwilling. Because if there is something Vars can’t resist, it’s a boy with pleading eyes.
“You are mine now, boy. This room is soundproof. No one will hear you scream.”
“Yes, sir. My body is yours.”
WARNING: This story contains scenes of violence, offensive language, and morally ambiguous characters.
Jake has been longing for his patch so he can become a full member of the Kings of Hell, for they are his family but until then he does as he's asked as prospect. When a new prospect is brought in Jake feels he should be a rung or two higher on the ladder than the newbie despite Vars somewhat advanced age. There is attraction between the two on many levels but will the secrets they both harbor get in the way and what will happen to the Kings of Hell when those secrets are revealed?
First off I have to say that I love this series and that both books 1 & 2, Laurent and the Beast & My Dark Knight made my Best Reads of 2017 as well as Sunday Safe Word Shelf Best of 2017. BDSM is not exactly at the top of my favorite genres, I enjoy them but not exactly what I would label as my "goto genre" but when written well and the author shows the proper respect for the lifestyle then I in turn show my gratitude and respect as well. Now as much as KA Merikan shows that respect, this is a paranormal story which gives a little leeway to the authors but fortunately they still remain true when telling Jake and Vars dominating/submissive push and pull romance.
As for the paranormal aspect of the story, well I won't touch too much on it because I don't want to give anything away but I will say that I absolutely love how they blend romance, drama, lust, mystery, paranormal, and lets face it at times pure horror into this installment. You are treading a fine line when it comes to adding this much darkness into a love story but the authors do it wonderfully. Even bikers who make deals with demons deserve some happiness. I won't lie, I found Jake to be a bit of nuisance at times during My Dark Knight as he was so devoted to Knight and didn't care for Elliot's intrusion but I still loved him and was eagerly awaiting his own story. I was not disappointed.
As much as I wanted to read this when it first was released I was in the midst of my holiday reading and knew that I wouldn't be able to give it the respect and concentration that I knew it deserved so I pushed it off until after the new year was underway and boy am I glad I did. On Your Knees, Prospect had me hooked so deeply that I didn't want to put it down. I chose to read this on a day I was at the Mayo Clinic for nearly 12 hours as my mother had appointments, was that the wisest decision? Probably not as I had to put it down when she was called in and I had to go with her but it definitely kept my mind occupied in the down times in between. For that alone I want to say a huge thank you to the authors. I am eagerly awaiting Gray's Shadow.
K. A. Merikan is the pen name for Kat and Agnes Merikan, a team of writers, who are taken for sisters with surprising regularity. Kat’s the mean sergeant and survival specialist of the duo, never hesitating to kick Agnes’s ass when she’s slacking off. Her memory works like an easy-access catalogue, which allows her to keep up with both book details and social media. Also works as the emergency GPS. Agnes is the Merikan nitpicker, usually found busy with formatting and research. Her attention tends to be scattered, and despite pushing thirty, she needs to apply makeup to buy alcohol. Self-proclaimed queen of the roads.
They love the weird and wonderful, stepping out of the box, and bending stereotypes both in life and books. When you pick up a Merikan book, there’s one thing you can be sure of – it will be full of surprises.
On Your Knees, Prospect #4
Title: Goddess of the Wild Thing
Author: Paul DeBlassie III
Genre: Fantasy, Paranormal
Release Date: October 3, 2017
Goddess of the Wild Thing is a dramatic tale of one woman’s spiritual journey where magical happenings, unexpected turns of fate, and unseen forces influence her ability to love and be loved. Eve Sanchez, a middle-aged woman and scholar of esoteric studies, encounters a seductive but frightening man who introduces her to a supernatural world in which the wicked powers of a surrogate mother’s twisted affection threaten love and life. In the mystic realm of Aztlan del Sur, Eve and three friends struggle with whether bad love is better than no love and discover that love is a wild thing.
This was a difficult read. Not because it was a bad story. On the contrary. It was mind blowing! It was difficult because it messed with one's mind in the most clever and effective way, which only a Pscychologist can do. So what is it about?
Eve and her friends use yoga and other spiritual means to help them navigate life when it gets tricky, and the often elusive thing called love. Debating whether or not bad love is better than no love at all, they go through life's ups and downs together. Yet when Eve meets a man called Sam, who has potential, evil lurks and causes havoc in her life. An epic battle between good versus evil ensues between her and Sweet Mary, and in the process she finds her true self. BUT, there is so much more and as a reader you can only wonder what is real and not real.
Many people will complain about the lack of dialogue on this novel, but it is rich in back stories and information vital to the development of the plot. This book is not only filled with mystical and magical, but paranormal, metaphysical and occult elements. Essentially a great read for horror/ thriller fans, those who like a little romance will also enjoy this read. Because it catered to all my needs as a reader, I give this book 5 stars. ~Books On Fire Tours
