Paramour for the Devil by Savannah Hill

Title: Paramour for the Devil
Author: Savannah Hill
Series: Hawthorne Witches #1
Genre: Paranormal Erotic Romance
Release Date: October 2, 2015
Darkly erotic. Supremely powerful.

Haley Hawthorne is a witch. She shuns her paranormal gifts, instead escaping into a mundane, reclusive life as an accountant for her Uncle Eli’s firm. Five years earlier, Haley was kidnapped by Raden, brother of Lucifer, and held captive as his personal sex slave. She escaped but still bears the scars, both physical and emotional. Now she’s turned away from both magic and sex, and she’s certain nothing will ever bring those lost things back into her life...

Damian, son to Lucifer, has renounced his right to the throne of Hell and has become a soldier for Adversus, hunting evil supernatural creatures on Earth. Unfortunately, he’s powerless to witches, and this witch can read his mind. He can’t decide what is more dangerous—the irresistible attraction he feels for her, or the intoxicating peace she gives him. One thing is certain, they both share a tortured past.

After Damian rescues her from an attack by monstrous djinn, Haley discovers the dangerously seductive soldier has secrets of his own. One of them is the collection of whips, ropes, handcuffs, and a leather riding crop he keeps locked away, though he refuses to show her his “Master” side. But when her trust in him grows, she finds herself increasingly intrigued by all the kinky things he’s hiding. But Damian has been given a new mission to kill a monster. A monster that turns out to be her uncle...

Damian abruptly woke on the couch in the darkened living room with the sense he was being watched. He furrowed his brows at the dangerous witch in front of him, scarcely able to make out her hourglass figure in the sliver of sunlight from a gap in the curtain.

"What are you doing?" Lowering his arm to his side, he sat upright.

"Oh, I'm sorry." Haley's gaze darted downward. "I was..." He tried to probe her mind, and she promptly pushed him out, forming an invisible shield around her thoughts. "I was looking for Adam." She cleared her throat lightly.

Panicked by her unknown intentions as his eyes adjusted to the low light in the room, he pinpointed his gaze on her. A blur of white and black polka dotted silk, awkwardly standing with her face turned away from him. Her neckline plunged deeply, brought up to tie in a silky bow behind her slender neck, accentuating her bare shoulders.

"He's in the library." Surprised at how soft his own voice sounded, Damian suddenly felt an intense urge to pull at the ribbon until it slid down her perky breasts.

"Oh, alright, thank you." Her eyes wandered nervously. "I wasn't...um...watching you."

He raised an eyebrow as her creamy complexion turned pink.

"Adam, I mean, Aimee said Adam was in here, so..." The girl could barely breathe.

Shameful self-loathing tore through him as he recalled her tear-filled eyes, their bright blue depths staring up at him from Raden's table.

She rushed to the doorway, a black tulle slip under the hem of her dress swaying at her sexy thighs. With a sudden ache in his groin, he caught a peek at the red soles on her black high heels. Her ponytail bounced as she hurried away from him. He imagined how she would look perched on his lap without any clothes on.

Forcefully eliminating that thought from his mind, he stood, cracking his neck back and forth, and headed into the sun-soaked hallway. She's a goddamn witch, what are you thinking? He happened to be oddly vulnerable to their magic, rendered completely powerless, and tended to harbor an automatic hatred for them. If this beautiful witch was, in fact, planning any kind of vengeance toward him, he'd be royally fucked. Not to mention, she's Adam and Stephen's little sister. That's gotta be some kind of guy code violation.

Walking into an empty bathroom, he undressed to take a shower and found his cock standing firmly at attention. He rolled his eyes. Even if you did want her, I'm sure she fucking hates you. You let her get tortured while you sat inches away. Leave her the fuck alone.

He scrubbed himself hard in the shower, trying to rid his mind of her, but was still achingly swollen between his legs. His thoughts drifted to what she'd looked like sleeping next to him the day before, perfect pink nipples barely showing through her lacy white top in just the right light, those sexy fuck-me heels with the red soles as she walked away. He'd never experienced such a strong attraction to anyone before, and it was insanely distracting, especially since she was entirely off-limits to him.

Lowering his head in frustration, he let the water wash over him for a moment. Just thinking about her couldn't hurt anything. He moved his hand to his pulsing cock and began to stroke it.

What Others Are Saying:
Holy HELL! I don't even know how to write a review good enough for this book! From page ONE I was so I love with Haley! She is sweet, soft spoken with a sense of humor that I love! Damien, Damien, Damien.. The son of Satan and surely hotter than hell itself! He is Sexy but kind of the silent type until Haley is around. I love their chemistry and silly banter back and forth! I hate spoilers so I don't want to give too much away. This story is incredible, fun, sexy and has spots that will make you sit up and strangle anyone who tries to interrupt your reading. This is a book I will read over and over and poor, Savannah Hill will be having to block me on social media because I am SO ready for more of her work!!
**I was given an ARC in exchange for an honest review but will be purchasing my own copy as soon as its available! ** -- J. Richards (verified purchase review Oct 2, 2015)

Savannah's "Paramour for the Devil" is a well written story set in the human realm and the supernatural realm. Her characters are very well developed. The love story between two broken people is profound. I found myself falling in love with Damian and Haley. I highly recommend this book to read. -- Carla Williams (verified purchase review Oct 18, 2015)

First, who are your favorite authors? What do you like about them?
I really love River Savage's men. They're total alphas, and they have really dirty mouths. She's great at tossing you right into the story. My favorite erotica author is Anne Rice, writing as A.N. Roquelaure, the Claiming of Sleeping Beauty quartet. Those books are wild and dirty. I also really enjoyed the Twilight series by Stephenie Meyer.

Are you reading a book now? Which one?
I'm reading two ARC's right now, Shadows by Amber Lacie and Degrees of Control by Eve Dangerfield, both are fun and sexy. I read them whenever I need to take a break from writing, and they are both really great so far.

What are you passionate about?
I love to write. When I'm in the writing zone, I feel like a complete person. Lately, I've taken an interest in cooking for my family (my man and our toddler boy). At least one home-cooked meal per day. I'm having a lot of fun with that. Our little boy eats up the meals I make a mistake with and doesn't like the ones that I think come out like perfection.

What does a perfect day look like for you?
If it's a writing day, complete solitude and dark, rainy weather. I live in WA, and I love that weather. For just a regular day, I love preparing for a big event, whether it's a fun party with our friends, or a vacation. I like getting up early when I have something to look forward to that day and marking things off the to-do list.

Is Paramour for the Devil a standalone story? What can your readers look forward to next?
It is actually the first book in the Hawthorne Witches series. I'm working on the sequel, Seducing the Devil, right now. The third and fourth books are about Haley's cousins, Emily and Cassie. They both fall in love with very dark supernatural men. I also have plans for novellas (or possibly full-length novels) for Haley's brothers, Adam and Stephen. And I just completed a novella called Unchained Love that should release by Christmas 2016. That one is about a wealthy girl whose father is running an underground fighting ring, and she comes across his newest prize fighter chained in the wine cellar. It's an erotic, violent holiday-themed story.

How do you feel about your characters in Paramour for the Devil? Do you think you'd get along with them? Would Damian be able to steal your heart?
Haley has a lot of respect for other females. She's passive by nature, but can be a total badass when she has to be, and she has two really fun best friends. I'd love to hang out with them. As for Damian, oh yes, I think he's so dreamy. He's definitely a bad boy, but he's got a vulnerable side underneath. He's also really kinky, I love that.

What inspired you to write this story?
I dreamed up the Damian character after watching many hours of Supernatural in my early twenties. Originally, I planned to write a sweet romantic comedy, and then I decided to tap into this fantasy I had for years about Damian, the son of Satan, joining the good guys and hunting evil creatures. I threw out my embarrassment about my friends/family knowing I was writing an erotic novel and chose to just go for it.

Do you have a favorite scene in the book? Why does it spark your interest?
I really love the BDSM scene toward the end of the book. Damian shows his "Master" side, and I think it's hot as hell. He uses his supernatural powers in combination with a riding crop. I'm excited to explore more of his Dominant side in the sequel and venture a little deeper into BDSM for Haley and Damian's sex life.

What type of scenes do you consider the most fun to write?
I love them all. I attempted to write many novels before this one (beginning in sixth grade) and I got bored easily, abandoning the book if I hit a boring scene. Then I decided that if the story bored me to write it, it would bore the readers too. I wanted this book to be a wild ride. That's my goal for all of my upcoming projects as well.

If Paramour for the Devil is adapted to film, which actress/actor would you envision for Haley and Damian?
I'd picture Danneel Ackles with bright blue eyes for Haley. For Damian, that is tough. I don't think I've seen an actor that looks just like him. Maybe the guy from Avatar if he had iridescent green eyes. Even then, I don't think he looks quite like him.

Is your own personality reflected in any of your characters?
Yes, a lot of the dialogue between Haley and her girlfriends, and between Haley and Damian (minus most of the dirty talk) are from actual conversations I've had with friends or with my man.

Do you have any advice for aspiring authors?
If I had any advice to give, it would be to write what you genuinely love and power through your fears. Hard work and perseverance will always produce great results.

Is there anything specific you want to say to your readers?
THANK YOU for reading. :)

Release Day Blitz: The Edge Of Something More by Andi Loveall

Title: The Edge of Something
Author: Andi Loveall
Genre: Contemporary, New Adult Romance
Release Date: November 10, 2015
Publisher: Swoon Romance
After a nasty breakup, twenty-two-year-old Devin Ashford is on a mission to travel the world one random excursion at a time. He wants to forget his ex, discover new experiences and end up with some awesome stories to tell. If it takes spending all of his savings to do it, he is ready.
His first stop is a communal homestead in the Appalachians of North Carolina, which turns out to be a bohemian paradise. The weed is plentiful, the owners adore him, and the very sight of Cora, their nineteen-year-old goddaughter, makes him want to set up a permanent camp.

Cora warns that she isn’t ready for a serious relationship, but Devin is falling hard. Playful kisses turn into passionate sex, and each day is spent connecting and enjoying the mind-numbing awesomeness—until he makes the mistake of saying “I love you.” Discussing the future kills the good vibes, and Cora pushes him away.

Pissed off and rejected, Devin begins preparing for his next excursion: backpacking India. But just when it’s time to go, the death of one of the homestead’s beloved animals leaves Cora upset and in need of a friend. Devin’s kindness wins him another shot at romance.

With a plane ticket in hand and his pride on the line, Devin and Cora find themselves teetering on the edge of something more.

She smiled, holding them out. “Would you like one?”
“Um. Yes. Don’t mind if I do.” He took it from her, letting his fingers rest on her hand a beat longer than necessary. If she noticed, she didn’t let it show.
“We just dug them up from the greenhouse this morning. They’re good. Raven doesn’t believe in peeling them because why waste the resources, you know?”
He stuck the carrot between his teeth, secured his foot on the log fence, and hauled himself up. A sweet scent wafted over from her wet hair. It was pure and natural, like the earth after a rainstorm.
She looked over at him and narrowed her eyes. “Welcome to the fence.”
He laughed through the carrot and leaned forward, dropping it from his mouth into his hand. “Thank you, thank you.”
Judy was lumbering over. Cora leaned forward, holding out a carrot.
“Come here girl,” she said, feeding it to her. “Come here Rainbow.”
“I thought her name was Judy.”
“It is,” she said. “But I call her Rainbow. We were here visiting when Walter and Raven brought her home. They said we could name her — my sister and me. But we couldn’t agree. She wanted Mrs. Jenkins and I wanted Rainbow. We got in such a fight about it that Raven decided to name her Judy. It was this huge scandal, and I cried for like three days. Then, I realized I could just call her Rainbow.”
“How old were you when this happened?”
     “Maybe six.”
“This is good, by the way,” he said, chewing a bite of carrot. “Kind of outrageously good.”
     “Told you.”
“Carrots are such an all-or-nothing thing, too.”
     “What do you mean?”
“Well … ” He swallowed. “Take garlic, for instance. It might be a little green in the middle, or a little too dry, but for the most part—obvious reasons such as spoilage aside—garlic is garlic. Onions are onions. And potatoes? Hard to go wrong with potatoes. If nothing else you can mash them up and you’re good to go. But with carrots, they’re either bitter and awful or completely amazing. There’s absolutely no middle ground.”
“What kind of weird carrot experiences have you had?” She laughed. “They’re almost always good.”
He made a grim face. “If only that were true. After being hit by a carrot truck and bashed in the head with a can of carrots by an unknown assailant, I can only assume the position the carrots have taken. This carrot here? It just might be a sign the war is over.”
“Maybe it was fate,” she said. “You having so many bad carrots. Now you can really appreciate the good ones.”
“I do appreciate,” he said, gazing at her.

Lucid Dreaming by Cassandra Page

Title: Lucid Dreaming
Author: Cassandra Page
Genre: New Adult Urban Fantasy
Release Date: November 3, 2015
Who would have thought your dreams could kill you?

Melaina makes the best of her peculiar heritage: half human and half Oneiroi, or dream spirit, she can manipulate others’ dreams. At least working out the back of a new age store as a ‘dream therapist’ pays the bills. Barely.

But when Melaina treats a client for possession by a nightmare creature, she unleashes the murderous wrath of the creature’s master. He could be anywhere, inside anyone: a complete stranger or her dearest friend. Melaina must figure out who this hidden adversary is and what he’s planning – before the nightmares come for her.

My mother sat by the window in a long, white nightgown, gazing out at the lawn.

She stood out like a daisy in a field of grass: her hair was long, unbound, and the same jet-black as mine. It hadn’t yet gone grey like that of most other residents. Her pale skin bore only the fine wrinkles of middle age—the middle age of someone who didn’t spend a lot of time in the sun. She’d been in a home for almost as long as I’d been alive. Longer than most of the elderly residents.

Thinking about it made me sad. And that made me cranky. “It’s mid-afternoon, Mum,” I said. “You should be dressed.”

“Hello, dear.” She smiled, lifting her cheek to be kissed.

“Hi.” My voice sounded flat and, hearing it, I told myself to get a grip as I sat in the window seat opposite her. There were one or two others still wearing pyjamas, like the guy in the garden. Besides, it wasn’t Mum’s fault she was so detached from the world.

It was Dad’s.

“I brought you some chocolate.”

She clapped her thin hands with delight, as though my offering was the finest Swiss confectionary rather than a cheap assortment from the supermarket. Pulling the cellophane off, she put the box on the sill between us, inspecting the range with pursed lips.

“How have you been?” I asked.

She shrugged, choosing an anonymous blue-wrapped chocolate. “Nothing changes here. You?”

“More or less the same. I had an … unusual client yesterday.” I glanced around and lowered my voice. Given the volume of the television and the fact that most of the residents were wearing hearing aids, I was pretty sure no one would be able to overhear. “He had a blight infestation.”

“I haven’t seen one in almost a year. Has Ollie ever mentioned them to you?”

She shook her head. “I can ask him if you like?”

“If you happen to see him,” I said, glancing at the reflective surface of the windowpane. There was no sign of Leander. But I’d never been sure that was a guarantee of privacy. Maybe it worked like a webcam, where he could be “off camera” but still hear the conversation.

He’d never confirmed either way. For obvious reasons.

“Leander’s back too.” I scowled at my reflection.

Her faraway gaze sharpened. She’d used to like my imaginary friend, till I discovered his real agenda. Now she hated him, rightly viewing him as a threat to her husband. Or partner. I don’t think Mum and Dad ever did marry. I mean, how could they?

“What did he want?” she asked.

“The usual.”

“And will you give it to him?”

I shook my head, looking down at my hands. I’d never met my father and he wasn’t exactly my favourite person, but Mum loved him. I couldn’t deprive her of that.

I wasn’t sure she’d survive it.

Can you tell us a little about LUCID DREAMING?
As the blurb says, Lucid Dreaming tells the story of Melaina Armstrong, who is half human and half Oneiroi, or dream spirit. That is something that had always been impossible, for rather obvious anatomical reasons; her birth caused a significant amount of consternation among the Oneiroi and caused her non-human father to go into hiding rather than reveal how it had happened…

Melaina is a character that appeared in my head one day, almost wholesale, as I was driving home after work. I’d just finished another project, and had intended to sit down and try my hand at a straight fantasy (rather than its urban fantasy cousin), when she came stomping out of my subconscious complete with steel-capped boots and a nose piercing. I loved her instantly, and put my fantasy novel plans aside to tell her story instead!

Are all your books set in Australia?
The urban fantasies are, including Lucid Dreaming—although part of the third book in my other trilogy also has a handful of scenes set in London and Edinburgh. I’ve thought about setting a book entirely overseas, but there are several reasons I haven’t. One is that I’ve only ever been on one overseas holiday (to Scotland and Spain), and I didn’t think I could fake it. Another is that I’m acutely aware that I not only write in Australian English, but that I don’t always know when a phrase I use is uniquely Australian. If I tried to write a character with an American or British voice, for example, readers would be onto me faster than you can say “g’day, mate”.

Besides, I love Australia and thought there wasn’t enough supernatural fiction set here, so I decided to put my money where my mouth is!

Are you inspired by music? What songs do you associate with LUCID DREAMING?
I don’t write to music. I’m one of those people who, if they hear a song and know the lyrics, will start singing along, usually with great gusto … all of which makes trying to craft new words impossible. I’m a little bit jealous of people who have not just songs but entire playlists for their novels. I don’t have that sort of list, but there are a couple of songs that remind me of Lucid Dreaming.

The first is a classic: Enter Sandman by Metallica. But it has to be the version with the San Francisco Symphonic Orchestra, because violins. VIOLINS!

The second is more recent (though not that recent): Imaginary by Evanescence. (Which also has violins and thrashing guitar—coincidence?) This song specifically makes me think of Davina, Melaina’s mother.

What is the favourite part of your writing process?
If I can’t say “the moment where I type THE END”, then it’d have to be editing. Having something there to shape and hone is so much fun, and comes much more easily to me since I’m also an editor in my day job. Drafting is sometimes such a word vomit process that by the end of a writing session I’m convinced what I’ve set down is all a bit rubbish. It’s taken me years to learn to just keep drafting, and then to come back and fix it later.

My second-favourite part is writing the last few chapters of a book. I’ve drafted five novels now, and that’s always been a fun part of the experience. It’s such a heady rush, seeing all the plot threads come together and the plot accelerate. Also, usually by that point I’m doing mean things to my characters, which is also fun!

Genre: Contemporary New Adult Romance

It’s too bad for Scarlet that no matter how sweet a person is, fate can still screw you over.

Now she’s jaded, half of her torn away and the remainder flesh and bones. In her grief, all Scarlet wants to do is to rebel against the life that betrayed her and her roommate provides the perfect lure…

Scarlet awakens when she enters the New York City underground, where vice and fortunes thrive. Hustling, trickery and savagery allow her to discover her true self—-her forgotten soul reemerging. She just can’t promise it’ll come back pure.

It won’t matter that there is a shadow in her periphery. Theo Saxon thinks he can save Scarlet from a world she craves and protect her from the very elements he’s spawned from. But it’s through his unwitting instruction that Scarlet will become a part of his league and find the danger he wants so badly to keep to himself.

Scarlet thinks the stakes are within her control. But she won’t just be betting her heart on Theo and his seductive sins. She will wager her life.

I stalked out of the apartment, noticing Verily at the poker table as I went by, dressed in a red-and-lace something. I could only nod at her. Theo followed behind, his footfalls light despite his contained fury, and took a seat next to Kai. At Verily’s curious, concerned glance between Theo and me, I smiled to let her know everything was fine.

I made it to the elevator with strong, held-together strides. My hand didn’t tremble when I pressed the down button. My stance was calm as I waited. As soon as the doors slid open, I entered, and when they shut behind me, I fell.

Hunched over, I held back sobs, my face hidden in my hands and my chest concaving with heaves.
Control, Scarlet.

I allowed myself one more gasping lurch before I rose, brushing back my hair and wiping my cheeks. After one last swallow, I’d choked back the flood.

Theo had given me many warnings. I’d been manhandled, threatened, and seen this underground for what it was: vice. If there was any time where there was an opportunity for avoidance, now was that moment.

The elevator doors opened on the ground floor, and I left both it and the lobby, tying my trench coat tighter as I exited.

Theo’s gun flashed in my mind, the coolness of it encased in the warmth of his hand.

My heart pounded, trapped in its prison of bones and blood.

I couldn’t turn back.

Can Orion and Mallory work together to help Daniah be the hope the Zoku so desperately need?  “Cord, come dance with me,” I suggest, sliding out of my chair and holding my hand out to her.

She looks up at me in surprise then blushes and reaches her good hand up to clasp mine and we head to the dance floor. The music has all been slower songs, which is good because with her broken arm Cord wouldn’t be able to get too crazy.

I slide one arm around her waist and pull her against me while taking her free hand in mine. We sway to the music and I notice the beat changes into another song which is a bit faster, so I dip Cord back then nudge her gently with my arm at her waist while pulling her other arm, making her go in a circle before pulling her body back up against mine.

She giggles. “This is fun, and you’re quite good,” she says smiling up at me. “Even with my bum arm.”

I smile back and respond, “thank you.” Then we continue on, me dipping, swaying, pushing away pulling her back against me. I twist her so that her back is against me and we sway in time to the music. I drop my head against her shoulder and lay my cheek against hers.

“You’re pretty good at this yourself,” I say into her ear and feel her body tremble against mine as she lays her head back against my chest. ““Even with your bum arm.”

We sway a bit more, before I spin her around again and dip her before bringing her up against my body, lifting her to where her face is close to mine. We are still swaying slightly as the music changes again, and then, looking into her eyes and her flushed face, I lean closer, my eyes falling to her lips.

I feel her take in a breath and hear it catch in her throat. I release her hand and slide both of my arms around her, one on her waist and the other around her back. Her hand moves to my shoulder and I feel her pull me closer. My eyes flick back up to hers, which are locked onto my mouth. Without another thought, I lean in and press my lips against hers softly. My hand moves to her nape as I cradle her against me.

I feel a shock at the first touch of our lips and then I feel Cord press herself even closer to me as she pulls at my shoulder. She is everything I have been wanting and more than I had hoped for. Her lips are soft and warm, molding against mine; her body is lean and muscled, though still soft. Her hand moves up to my hair and she lightly scratches my scalp and I moan into her mouth feeling the touch all throughout my body.

I move my lips against hers, lightly swiping my tongue against her lower lip, coaxing her to open for me. She does, sucking in a shuddering breath, and I thrust my tongue into her mouth. I feel as well as hear her groan in to my mouth as she angles her mouth against mine.

I pull back from her mouth and move to her neck, lightly leaving open- mouthed kisses along her jaw and neck. I have waited years to finally kiss her, and I have wanted her more the last few days. “Cord,” I whisper and I feel her body stiffen.

I pull back and look at her in question. She looks up at me with indecision all over her face, though I can see the desire in her eyes.

Author Bio:
Chelsea O’Neal lives in her fantasy world where people can fly, vampires could be real, money is never an issue, and the romantic meeting of your true love is a normal happening.  When not relaxing in Chelsea-ville, she enjoys talking with animals that talk back and taking long walks with her Prince Charming…

Actually Chelsea lives in the United States in Nebraska, where she was born and raised, with her black lab Daisey, who hasn’t spoken actual words, but she is pretty sure Daisey understands her. She is yet to meet her Prince Charming, though she is quite sure he is out there.  Chelsea enjoys working in a library as well as a cosmetologist. She is an avid reader and writing has always been her passion. Zoku’s Hope is her second novel, and she is working on her next book now.
